Haida Art Carving
Haida Eagle Artwork
This is our first true “art” carving and is based on the art of the Haida Gwaii natives of the west coast of British Columbia. The real Haida artists carve by hand and usually in the native cedar species in their area. Their art costs thousands of dollars and is truly amazing. While what we have created in the hardwood maple can’t compare to the real Haida artists, we believe it is still beautiful and worthy of being called art. While the Eagle is a symbol for power, it is also a symbol of peace and this is why we chose the Eagle as our first art carving. We love Haida art and hope you will as well.
The maple is stained a light golden pecan and the carving is painted traditional black and red Haida colours. The back has one keyhole slot for secure flush wall hanging. We have protected this piece in a high gloss high density urethane to both protect it and to bring out the beauty of the piece.
Dimensions: 14.5” wide x 12” long and 1” thick
